Benefits

The Open Can exercise offers several benefits, including improved shoulder stability, greater mobility, and a reduced risk of shoulder injuries. It is an excellent exercise for anyone who wants to improve or maintain shoulder health.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Performing the movement too quickly: Take the time to perform each repetition in a controlled manner.
  • ! Using weights that are too heavy: Start light and focus on proper form.
  • ! Letting the elbow drop: Make sure your elbow stays at shoulder height throughout the entire exercise.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily trains the rotator cuff muscles, including the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, and subscapularis. The deltoid muscles and the muscles around the shoulder blade are also engaged.

Possible Alternatives

If you want to adjust the intensity of the Open Can exercise, you can vary the weight of the dumbbell or perform the exercise without weight to focus on technique. Another variation is to perform the exercise lying on your side, which uses gravity differently and activates the rotator cuff muscles in a different way.
