Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the deltoids (shoulder muscles) and, to a lesser extent, the triceps and the muscles around the shoulder blades.

Possible Alternatives

  • To increase the intensity, you can deepen the stretch by gently applying more pressure with your other hand.
  • If standing is uncomfortable, this stretch can also be performed while seated.
  • For a variation, try the stretch with a towel or resistance band to pull the extended arm farther.
