Dolphin Push-Up
Introduction: The Dolphin Push-Up is a dynamic exercise that strengthens both your upper body and core. This exercise combines elements of a push-up with the position of a dolphin pose from yoga, creating a unique challenge.
Execution: Begin in a plank position with your hands under your shoulders and your body in a straight line. Push your hips up and back so that your body forms an inverted V shape. Your head is between your arms, looking toward your feet. Then bend your elbows and lower your head and chest toward the floor, just above the ground. Push yourself back up to the starting position and repeat.
Primary Muscles: This exercise primarily targets the shoulders, triceps, and upper back. The core and hamstrings are also engaged for stability.
Benefits: The Dolphin Push-Up helps build strength in the upper-body muscles and improves shoulder flexibility. It is also an excellent exercise for improving core stability and strengthening the arm and shoulder muscles.
Common Mistakes: A common mistake is not fully extending the arms when pushing upward. Make sure your arms are fully extended in the top position to achieve maximum muscle activation. Also make sure your back does not sag during the exercise.
Possible Alternatives: If the standard Dolphin Push-Up is too challenging, you can begin with your knees on the floor to reduce the intensity. For an additional challenge, you can lift one leg during the exercise.
