Cable Y Raise
The cable Y raise is an exercise that primarily targets the rotator cuff. The stabilizing muscles around the shoulder joint.

Pull your elbows backward at ear height. Your hands follow and rotate upward until your forearms point straight up.

Return your hands to the starting position in a controlled manner.

Back and shoulder joint:
- Deltoid (especially rear)
- Rotator cuff (supraspinatus, infraspinatus and the
teres minor)
- Levator scapulae
Arms:
- Biceps
- Forearm muscles
Back:
- Trapezius
Cable Y raise preparation
- Set the cable pulleys to the lowest position and attach a single handle.
- Choose the desired resistance.
- With your right hand, grasp the cable on the left side, and with your left hand, grasp the cable on the right side
- Stand in the middle, just behind the imaginary line between the two pulleys.
- Keep this arm slightly bent beside your body. Your hands are slightly in front of your body.
Cable Y raise technique
The Y raise targets the smaller, stabilizing muscles around the shoulder joint. Muscles that stabilize the shoulder joint while also enabling rotation.
The purpose of the exercise is therefore not to build bigger shoulders, but primarily to prevent injuries and increase mobility. Therefore, choose a weight that targets these smaller muscles.
