Benefits

  • Increases chest muscle strength and size.
  • Improves shoulder joint stability.
  • Allows progressive overload by adding weight.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Lowering or rising too quickly: This can lead to injuries and reduces the effectiveness of the exercise.
  • ! Going too deep: Although a deep stretch is beneficial, going too deep can strain the shoulders.
  • ! Not coming all the way up: Make sure your arms are fully extended in the top position to get the most out of the exercise.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the pectoralis major, but it also trains the triceps and anterior deltoids.

Possible Alternatives

  • Without weight: Start without weight to master the technique.
  • Assisted dips: Use an assisted dip machine if you have difficulty performing the exercise.
  • Bench dips: An alternative that places less strain on the shoulders and does not require a dip station.
