Machine Preacher Curls

The Machine Preacher Curl is an excellent exercise for targeted biceps training. With the support of the preacher bench, it isolates the biceps better than many other exercises.

Execution

  1. 1
Adjust the seat so that your upper arms rest comfortably on the preacher bench pad while seated.
  2. 2
Grasp the handles with an underhand grip (palms facing upward).
  3. 3
Inhale and slowly bring the handles toward you by bending your elbows.
  4. 4
Hold briefly at the top and contract your biceps firmly.
  5. 5
Exhale as you slowly lower the weights back to the starting position.

Benefits

  • Isolation of the biceps for greater focus and effectiveness.
  • Less risk of cheating due to the stable position provided by the machine.
  • Ideal for beginners to learn proper form.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Lowering the weights too quickly: use a controlled movement.
  • ! Training with too much weight, causing you to use other muscles to lift the weight.
  • ! Not fully extending the arms in the starting position.

Main Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the biceps brachii. The brachialis and brachioradialis, located in the forearm, are also trained to some extent.

Possible Alternatives

  • Change the grip: use a wider or narrower grip to emphasize different parts of the biceps.
  • Standing biceps curls with dumbbells or a barbell for greater involvement of the stabilizing muscles.
  • Cable curls with a preacher bench for constant tension on the biceps.
