Benefits

  • Improves muscle definition in your biceps.
  • Increases strength in your arms, which is useful for daily activities and other sports.
  • Using a resistance band creates different peak tension on the biceps than weights, which can lead to new muscle growth and strength.
  • You can perform the exercise anywhere, making it ideal for home or travel.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Performing the movement too quickly, which reduces tension on the muscles.
  • ! Moving the elbows away from the body, which reduces effectiveness and increases the risk of injury.
  • ! Not fully extending or flexing the arm, preventing you from using the exercise's full potential.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the biceps brachii. The brachialis and brachioradialis are also trained to a lesser extent, along with the stabilizing muscles in your shoulders and core.

Possible Alternatives

  • To increase the intensity, you can use a heavier resistance band or place your feet farther apart on the band.
  • For a lighter variation, you can use a lighter band or place your feet closer together.
  • You can also try the hammer curl variation with the resistance band for variety and to train different parts of the biceps and forearms.
