Execution

  1. 1
Begin in a plank position with your hands under your chest, but place your thumbs and index fingers together so they form a diamond shape.
  2. 2
Engage your abdominal muscles and keep your body in a straight line.
  3. 3
Lower yourself slowly by bending your elbows until your chest almost touches the floor.
  4. 4
Push yourself explosively back up to the starting position.

Benefits

  • Strengthens and defines the triceps.
  • Helps develop a stronger and more defined chest.
  • Improves overall push-up performance through training variation.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Failing to keep the abdominal muscles tight, which can cause the hips to sag.
  • ! Lowering or coming back up too quickly, which prevents the muscles from being trained optimally.
  • ! Allowing the elbows to flare out too far, which reduces effectiveness and increases the risk of injury.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the triceps, inner chest, and anterior deltoids.

Possible Alternatives

  • If the Diamond Push-Up is too challenging, try the classic push-up first to build strength.
  • For an additional challenge, try the exercise with your feet on an elevated surface.
  • Use push-up grips to reduce pressure on your wrists and vary the intensity.
