Cable Triceps Pushdown
The cable triceps pushdown is an isolation exercise that trains the triceps using a rope and a pulley station. The exercise is typically performed with a horizontal narrow bar, but it can also be varied with a rope. Hold the rope with an overhand grip and push it downward. This places tension on the triceps muscles of the upper arm. The bar variation can place additional pressure on the wrist. If this causes discomfort, the cable variation is a good alternative. On the other hand, the cable triceps pushdown may feel somewhat uncomfortable for beginners because it requires a strong grip.
Cable Triceps Pushdown Instructions
Set the pulley high and attach the rope. These are the requirements for this exercise.
Keep your back straight, lean slightly forward, and grasp the rope with an overhand grip, with your palms facing downward.
Keep your upper arms and elbows by your sides, and keep your forearms parallel to the floor.
Push the rope downward until both arms are extended. Hold the weight briefly at this position, then return the weight to the starting position.
Repeat for the desired number of reps.
