Benefits

  • Improves flexibility in the legs and hips.
  • Helps prevent injuries by improving muscle elasticity.
  • Can improve performance in running and other sports.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Leaning too far forward, causing the knee to move past the toes. Make sure your knee is aligned with your ankle.
  • ! Not taking enough time to remain in the stretch. Try to stretch for at least 30 seconds per leg.

Main Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the quadriceps, hamstrings, calves, and hip flexors.

Possible Alternatives

  • To increase the intensity, you can add a twist by bringing your opposite elbow toward your front knee while in the lunge position.
  • For a less intense variation, perform the stretch without placing your hands on the floor, keeping them on your hips instead.
