Pseudo Push-Up
Introduction: The pseudo push-up is a variation of the classic push-up that targets the upper chest muscles and shoulders. This exercise is ideal if you want to increase the intensity of your workout without using additional weights.
Execution: Begin in a standard push-up position with your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Instead of keeping your body straight, raise your hips so that your body forms an inverted “V.” Bend your elbows and lower your head toward the floor while your elbows point outward. Push yourself back up to the starting position. Keep your back and legs as straight as possible throughout the movement.
Primary Muscles: This exercise primarily trains the deltoids (shoulders), upper chest muscles, and triceps.
Benefits: The pseudo push-up helps build strength in the upper-body muscles, improves shoulder stability, and may help improve overall push-up performance by strengthening the muscles involved in more advanced push-up variations.
Common Mistakes: A common mistake is not fully extending the arms at the top of the movement. Make sure to fully extend your arms to achieve maximum muscle activation. It is also important to keep your hips high throughout the exercise to maintain proper form.
Possible Alternatives: If the pseudo push-up is too challenging, you can start with a regular push-up or a wall push-up to build strength. For more intensity, you can try placing your feet on an elevated surface or wearing a weighted vest.
