Fist Push-Up

The Fist Push-Up is a variation of the traditional push-up that provides an additional challenge for your upper body. Performing push-ups on your fists instead of your palms increases the intensity of the exercise and improves the stability and strength of your wrists.

  3. 3
Engage your abdominal muscles and keep your back straight.
  4. 4
Lower your body slowly by bending your elbows until your chest almost touches the floor.
  5. 5
Push yourself up by extending your arms until you return to the starting position.

Benefits

  • Improves wrist stability and strength.
  • Increases the intensity of the traditional push-up.
  • Helps develop a stronger upper body.
  • Improves core stability through the active involvement of the abdominal muscles.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Lowering or rising too quickly: Use a controlled movement to train the muscles effectively.
  • ! Allowing the back to sag or pushing the hips upward: Keep your body in a straight line to train your core and prevent injuries.
  • ! Allowing the elbows to flare too far out: Keep your elbows at an angle of approximately 45 degrees relative to your body for optimal training and less stress on your shoulders.

Primary Muscles

The Fist Push-Up primarily trains the chest muscles (pectoralis major), triceps, and the front of the shoulders (anterior deltoids). The abdominal muscles and lower-back muscles are also used as stabilizers.

Possible Alternatives

  • Kneeling Fist Push-Up: Beginners or people with less upper-body strength can perform this exercise on their knees to reduce the intensity.
  • Elevated Fist Push-Up: Place your feet on an elevated surface to increase the intensity and focus more on the upper chest muscles and shoulders.
