Benefits

  • Improves the flexibility of the biceps and shoulders.
  • Helps prevent muscle stiffness and injuries.
  • May improve posture by loosening tight muscles.
  • Ideal for both warm-up and cool-down routines.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Performing the stretch too quickly: Take time to move into the stretch and hold it.
  • ! Stretching too far: Do not force your body into a position that feels painful.
  • ! Shrugging the shoulders: Keep your shoulders low and relaxed for the best stretch.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the biceps brachii and anterior deltoids. It also helps stretch the chest muscles and improves shoulder joint mobility.

Possible Alternatives

  • If clasping your hands behind your back is too difficult, use a towel or resistance band to bridge the distance between your hands.
  • For a deeper stretch, try performing the stretch while leaning against a wall, pushing your arms upward against the wall.
  • Try performing the stretch while seated if standing is uncomfortable.
