Benefits

  • Strengthens and defines the triceps.
  • Improved arm strength that is useful for daily activities and other sports.
  • Helps reduce the risk of elbow and shoulder injuries by strengthening the surrounding muscles.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Using too much weight, which can lead to poor form and potential injuries.
  • ! Allowing the elbows to move away from the body, which reduces the effectiveness of the exercise.
  • ! Allowing the handle or bar to return to the starting position too quickly, which reduces control and the effectiveness of the exercise.

Primary Muscles

The primary focus of the Triceps Pushdown is the triceps brachii, which consists of three parts: the long head, the medial head, and the lateral head. This exercise also helps stabilize the muscles around the elbow.

Possible Alternatives

  • Triceps Dips: Use your own body weight to train the triceps.
  • Overhead Triceps Extension: Targets the long head of the triceps for a complete triceps workout.
  • Close-Grip Bench Press: A compound exercise that trains the triceps together with the chest and shoulders.
