  5. 5
Push the dumbbell back to the starting position by contracting your triceps.
  6. 6

Benefits

  • Strengthening the triceps.
  • Improving arm stability.
  • Supporting other exercises such as the bench press and push-ups.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Leaning your head too far backward, which can cause pressure on the neck.
  • ! Allowing the elbows to flare outward during the exercise.
  • ! Performing the movement too quickly, which can lead to less effective muscle activation and an increased risk of injury.

Key Muscles

The primary focus of the Seated Overhead Dumbbell Extension is the triceps. The shoulders and upper back muscles are also engaged lightly.

Possible Alternatives

  • Use a lighter dumbbell or a resistance band for lower intensity.
  • For more of a challenge, try performing the exercise standing to require more core stability.
  • Add a pause at the bottom of the movement to make the triceps work harder.
