Benefits

  • Isolates the triceps for effective muscle building.
  • Constant resistance from the cable provides an intense workout.
  • Helps improve arm definition and strength.
  • Suitable for all fitness levels because the resistance can be adjusted.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Using too much weight, which can lead to improper form and injuries.
  • ! Allowing the elbows to move too far away from the head, reducing effectiveness.
  • ! Not fully extending the arms at the end of the movement.

Primary Muscles

The primary focus of the Overhead Cable Triceps Extension is the triceps brachii, particularly the long head of the triceps. The shoulder muscles and upper back are also lightly engaged for stability.

Possible Alternatives

  • For a lighter variation, perform the exercise with a resistance band instead of a cable machine.
  • If you want to increase the intensity, try performing the exercise with one arm at a time for extra focus and balance.
  • Dumbbell Triceps Extension is a good alternative if you do not have access to a cable machine.
