Benefits

  • Improves shoulder flexibility and range of motion.
  • Helps prevent shoulder injuries by strengthening and loosening the shoulder muscles.
  • Promotes better posture by loosening tight muscles around the shoulders and upper back.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Performing the movements too quickly: Take your time with each stretch to achieve maximum benefits.
  • ! Not reaching far enough: Really try to touch your shoulder blades for a deep stretch.
  • ! Arching the back: Keep your back straight during the exercise to increase effectiveness and prevent injuries.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the shoulder muscles, including the deltoids and the rotator cuff. The muscles around the shoulder blades and upper back are also lightly engaged.

Possible Alternatives

  • If the exercise is too intense, first try doing one arm at a time instead of both arms together.
  • For a greater challenge, you can hold a light dumbbell in each hand while performing the movement.
  • Another variation is to perform the exercise seated on a chair, which can be useful for people with balance problems.
