Instructions

  1. Begin in a standing position with your feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Hold a light dumbbell or resistance band in each hand.
  3. Extend your arms out to the sides at shoulder height, with your elbows slightly bent.
  4. Rotate your arms forward so that your hands point downward, then rotate them backward so that your hands point toward the ceiling.
  5. Repeat this movement for the desired number of repetitions.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the rotator cuff muscles, including the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, and subscapularis. The deltoid muscles and the muscles around the shoulder blades are also trained.

Possible Alternatives

  • Shoulder Rotation with a resistance band: Attach a resistance band to a fixed object at shoulder height and perform the rotational movements.
  • Internal and external rotation: Focus on one arm at a time by performing internal and external rotations with a dumbbell or resistance band.
  • Shoulder Rotation in a seated position: For extra stability, you can also perform the exercise while seated on a chair or bench.
