  • Pike Push-Up

Introduction: The Pike Push-Up is a challenging variation of the traditional push-up, aimed at strengthening your shoulders, arms, and upper back. This exercise simulates an overhead pressing movement without using weights, making it an excellent choice for home workouts.

Execution: Begin in a high plank position with your hands shoulder-width apart. Lift your hips and move your feet toward your hands so that your body forms an inverted V shape. Keep your neck aligned with your spine. Now bend your elbows and lower your head toward the ground while keeping your elbows pointing backward. Push yourself powerfully back to the starting position. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Key Muscles: This exercise primarily targets the deltoids (shoulders) and triceps, and to a lesser extent the upper chest and upper back.

Benefits: The Pike Push-Up helps build strength in the upper-body muscles, improves shoulder-joint stability, and may contribute to better posture by strengthening the back muscles.

Common Mistakes: A common mistake is not fully extending the arms at the end of the movement. Make sure you fully extend your elbows to achieve maximum muscle activation. It is also important to keep your hips high throughout the exercise to maintain the correct body position.

Possible Alternatives: If the standard Pike Push-Up is too intense, you can start with a regular push-up or a wall push-up to build strength. For more of a challenge, you can place your feet on an elevated surface or wear a weighted vest.
