Execution

  1. 1
    Begin by standing with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand with an overhand grip.

    Let your arms hang straight down with the dumbbells in front of your thighs.

    Exhale and pull the dumbbells upward toward your chin by moving your elbows up and out. Keep your back straight and your chest forward.

    Pause briefly at the top of the movement.

    Inhale and slowly and controllably lower the dumbbells back to the starting position.
