Common Mistakes

  • ! Performing it too quickly: Take your time with each repetition to ensure maximum muscle activation.
  • ! Using weights that are too heavy: Start light to maintain proper form and prevent injuries.
  • ! Not fully extending: Make sure your arms are fully extended during the shoulder press for maximum effectiveness.

Targeted Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the anterior and medial deltoids in your shoulders. It also trains your triceps, upper chest muscles, and entire core, including your abdominal muscles, lower back, and hip flexors.

Possible Alternatives

If you want to adjust the intensity, you can vary the dumbbell weight or perform the exercise without weight to focus on technique. Another variation is to perform the exercise on an exercise ball to further increase stability.
