Close-Grip Cable Row
The Close-Grip Cable Row is an effective exercise for strengthening and developing your back muscles. This exercise primarily targets the middle part of your back, but it also benefits your biceps and shoulders.
Execution
-
1
Set the cable machine to the desired resistance and attach a V-handle to the cable.
-
2
Stand facing the machine and place your feet firmly on the floor. Keep your knees slightly bent.
-
3
Lean slightly forward from your hips and grasp the V-handle with both hands.
-
4
Pull the handle toward your abdomen while keeping your back straight and drawing your shoulder blades together.
-
5
Hold briefly at the end of the movement, then slowly allow the cable to return to the starting position.
Benefits
- Improves posture by strengthening the back muscles.
- Helps prevent back pain through a stronger core.
- Increases overall strength that is useful for daily activities.
Common Mistakes
- ! Pulling the weights too quickly — focus on a controlled movement.
- ! Rounding your back during the exercise — keep your back straight to prevent injuries.
- ! Shrugging your shoulders too high — keep your shoulders low and relaxed.
