Benefits

  • Improves posture by strengthening the upper back and shoulders.
  • Helps prevent shoulder injuries by improving the balance between the muscles around the shoulder joint.
  • Increases shoulder stability.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Using too much weight, which can lead to poor form and possible injuries.
  • ! Bending the elbows too much during the exercise.
  • ! Not fully returning to the starting position, preventing the muscles from being trained optimally.

Primary Muscles

The Cable Reverse Fly primarily targets the rear deltoids (back of the shoulders), rhomboids, and trapezius (upper back).

Possible Alternatives

  • Dumbbell Reverse Fly: For when you do not have access to a cable machine.
  • Face Pulls: Another excellent exercise for the upper back and shoulders that also trains the external rotators of the shoulder.
  • Band Pull-Aparts: A good option if you are looking for an exercise you can do anywhere with minimal equipment.
