Cable One Arm Front Raise
The Cable One Arm Front Raise is an effective exercise for strengthening and defining your shoulders. This exercise targets the front deltoids with unique tension that you do not get from traditional dumbbell raises.
Execution
-
1
Stand with your side facing the cable machine and grip the handle with the hand farthest from the machine.
-
2
Place your feet shoulder-width apart and keep your knees slightly bent for stability.
-
3
Keep your back straight and your core engaged.
-
4
Slowly raise your arm to shoulder height while keeping your elbow slightly bent.
-
5
Slowly and under control, lower your arm back to the starting position.
-
6
Repeat the movement for the desired number of repetitions before switching arms.
Benefits
- Improves shoulder muscle definition.
- Increases the stability and strength of the shoulder girdle.
- Training one arm at a time allows you to correct muscle imbalances.
Common Mistakes
- ! Performing the movement too quickly: Use a slow, controlled movement.
- ! Using too much weight: Start light and focus on proper form.
- ! Lifting the arm too high: This can lead to unnecessary stress on the shoulders.
Target Muscles
The primary focus is on the front deltoids. The trapezius and serratus anterior muscles are also trained lightly as secondary muscles.
Possible Alternatives
- To increase the intensity, try performing the exercise while standing on one leg for additional core stability.
- For a lighter variation, you can perform the exercise with a resistance band instead of a cable machine.
- Dumbbell Front Raises are a good alternative if you do not have access to a cable machine.
