Crab Walk
The Crab Walk is a fun and effective exercise that helps improve your coordination and body awareness. It challenges your entire body, especially your core and upper body.
Execution:
- Sit on the floor with your feet flat on the floor and your knees bent.
- Place your hands behind you, with your fingers pointing toward your toes.
- Lift your hips off the floor so your body forms a straight line from your shoulders to your knees.
- Begin walking by moving your right hand and left foot, followed by your left hand and right foot.
- Move forward or backward and keep your hips lifted the entire time.
Primary Muscles:
- Triceps
- Shoulders
- Core (abdominal muscles and lower back)
- Glutes (buttock muscles)
- Hamstrings
Benefits:
- Improves core strength and stability.
- Strengthens the muscles in your arms and shoulders.
- Helps improve your balance and coordination.
- Can be done anywhere without equipment.
Common Mistakes:
- Letting your hips drop; keep them lifted for maximum core engagement.
- Putting too much pressure on your hands or feet; distribute your weight evenly.
- Extending your arms too far; keep them under your shoulders for the best support.
Possible Alternatives:
- To increase the intensity, try doing the Crab Walk faster or add a resistance band around your thighs.
- If the standard Crab Walk is too challenging, first try the movement without lifting your hips.
- For variation, move sideways instead of forward or backward.
