Execution

  1. 1
Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor, hip-width apart.
  2. 2
Place your arms alongside your body with your palms facing down.
  3. 3
Engage your abdominal muscles and lift your hips toward the ceiling until your body forms a straight line from your shoulders to your knees.
  4. 4
Hold this position for a few seconds and ensure that your glutes are fully engaged.
  5. 5
Slowly lower your hips back to the starting position.

Benefits

In addition to strengthening your glutes, the Glute Bridge helps improve your posture and may contribute to better performance in other exercises such as running and squats.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Overextending the hip lift, which places too much stress on the lower back.
  • ! Not fully engaging the glutes during the exercise.
  • ! Placing the feet too far away from the glutes, which puts more pressure on the hamstrings than necessary.

Primary Muscles

The primary muscle groups trained with the Glute Bridge are the gluteus maximus, hamstrings, and lower back. Your core muscles are also engaged for stability.

Possible Alternatives

To adjust the intensity of the Glute Bridge, you can keep one leg extended during the lift. For an additional challenge, you can also place a weight on your hips or perform the exercise with your feet on an elevated platform.
