Execution

  1. 1
Lie on the floor with your back flat and your knees bent. Keep your feet flat on the floor, approximately hip-width apart.
  2. 2
Place your arms alongside your body on the floor for stability.
  3. 3
Engage your abdominal muscles and drive through your heels to lift your hips toward the ceiling. Press your hips as high as possible without overloading your lower back.
  4. 4
Hold briefly at the top and squeeze your glutes.
  5. 5
Slowly lower your hips back to the starting position.

Benefits

  • Strengthening and toning of the glutes.
  • Improved stability of the lower back and core.
  • May help reduce back pain by strengthening the lower back.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Overarching the lower back while pressing upward. Keep your back neutral.
  • ! Not pressing fully upward, which prevents the glutes from being activated to their full potential.
  • ! Performing the movement too quickly. Focus on a controlled movement upward and downward.

主要 Muscles

The primary focus is on the glutes (gluteus maximus, medius, and minimus). The hamstrings and core (abdominal muscles and lower back) are also actively engaged.

Possible Alternatives

  • Single-leg Hip Thrust: Perform the exercise with one leg extended in front of you. This increases the intensity for the working glute.
  • Add weight to your hips, such as a dumbbell or barbell, to increase the resistance.
  • Use a resistance band around your knees to increase the resistance against your thighs and further activate the lateral glutes.
