Benefits

  • Improves cardiovascular health through the combination of strength and cardio.
  • Increases metabolism through the intensity of the exercise.
  • Improves coordination and balance through the complex movements.
  • Strengthens multiple muscle groups simultaneously, saving time.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Moving through the exercise too quickly, causing your form to break down. Focus on the quality of each movement.
  • ! Allowing your back to sag during the plank or push-up. Keep your core tight to protect your back.
  • ! Placing the dumbbells too far from your body when setting them down, which can lead to overloading the shoulders.

Instructions

  1. Begin with a dumbbell in each hand and stand upright with your feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Lower into a squat position and place the dumbbells on the ground in front of you.
  3. Jump your feet backward into a plank position while holding the dumbbells.
  4. Perform a push-up, bringing your chest just above the ground.
  5. Jump your feet forward again into the squat position.
  6. Explosively stand up to the starting position while bringing the dumbbells overhead.
  7. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily trains your chest, shoulders, arms, back, abdominal muscles, glutes, and legs. It is a full-body workout that improves both strength and endurance.

Possible Alternatives

  • For a lighter version, omit the push-up or perform the exercise without dumbbells.
  • To increase the intensity, add an extra push-up or use heavier dumbbells.
  • If your movement is limited, perform the steps more slowly and focus on muscle contraction rather than speed.
