Diamond Push-Ups with Elbows Out

Diamond push-ups with the elbows out are a variation of the traditional push-up that focuses on training the chest muscles, triceps, and anterior deltoids more intensely. This exercise offers a unique challenge through the position of the hands, activating the muscles in a different way.

Benefits

  • Strengthens and shapes the chest muscles.
  • Intensive triceps training.
  • Improves shoulder stability.
  • Increases core strength through the plank position.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Lowering or coming up too quickly: Focus on a controlled movement to achieve maximum muscle activation.
  • ! Allowing the elbows to flare too far outward: This can place unnecessary stress on the shoulders.
  • ! Allowing the back to sag or the hips to rise: Keep your body in a straight line to maximize the effectiveness of the exercise.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the chest muscles (pectoralis major), triceps, and anterior deltoids.

Possible Alternatives

  • If diamond push-ups are too challenging, try standard push-ups or knee push-ups first to build strength.
  • For an extra challenge, try the exercise with your feet elevated on a bench or stack of books.
  • Vary the position of your hands to train different parts of the chest and triceps.
