Diamond Push-Ups on Knees

Diamond push-ups on your knees are a fantastic variation of the traditional push-up. This exercise primarily targets the triceps, but your chest muscles and the fronts of your shoulders also work hard. What makes this exercise unique is the hand position, which helps isolate the triceps further.

Execution

  1. 1
Start on your knees and place your hands on the floor so that your thumbs and index fingers touch, forming a diamond shape.
  2. 2
Keep your back straight and your abdominal muscles engaged.
  3. 3
Lower your body slowly by bending your elbows until your chest almost touches the floor.
  4. 4
Push yourself up by straightening your arms until you return to the starting position.

Benefits

This exercise not only helps strengthen your triceps, but also improves shoulder stability and increases chest strength. It is also a good exercise to do at home, as you do not need any equipment.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Lowering or coming up too quickly: Move in a controlled manner to achieve maximum muscle activation.
  • ! Letting your elbows flare out too far: Keep your elbows close to your body to maintain the focus on your triceps.
  • ! Not keeping your back straight: An arched or rounded back can lead to injuries.

Primary Muscles

The primary muscles trained with this exercise are the triceps, the pectoralis major, and the anterior deltoids.

Possible Alternatives

If you want to make the exercise more challenging, you can consider switching to a full diamond push-up, pushing from your toes instead of your knees. For a lighter variation, you can use an elevated surface for your hands, such as a bench or a stack of books.
