  • Commando Push-Up
  • Commando Push-Up

Introduction: The Commando Push-Up is a dynamic variation of the traditional push-up that places additional emphasis on your upper body and core. This exercise not only increases your strength but also improves your coordination and stability.

Execution: Begin in a standard push-up position with your hands shoulder-width apart. Ensure that your body forms a straight line from your head to your heels. Lower yourself toward the floor and push yourself back up. After a push-up, move one hand into a forearm position as if performing a forearm plank. Then switch arms and perform a push-up from this new position. Alternate between the right and left sides with each repetition.

Primary Muscles: This exercise primarily targets the chest, triceps, shoulders, and core.

Benefits: Commando Push-Ups help build muscle mass and upper-body strength while also improving core stability and flexibility. They are also an excellent cardiovascular exercise when performed at a higher pace.

Common Mistakes: A common mistake is failing to maintain a straight line with your body. This can lead to back pain. Make sure your core is engaged and your back does not sag. Another mistake is failing to fully extend your arms at the top of the push-up.

Possible Alternatives: If the Commando Push-Up is too challenging, you can start with a knee push-up to build strength. For an additional challenge, you can wear a weighted vest or place your feet on an elevated platform.
