The Cable Biceps Curl with an EZ-bar is a popular exercise for strengthening and shaping your biceps. This exercise provides constant resistance through the cable, creating unique tension on the muscles throughout the entire movement.

Execution

  1. 1
Set the cable machine to the lowest position and attach the EZ-bar to the cable.
  2. 2
Stand facing the machine, grasp the EZ-bar with both hands using an underhand grip (palms facing upward), and keep your elbows close to your body.
  3. 3
Inhale and keep your upper arms still while bringing the bar upward toward your chest by moving only your forearms.
  4. 4
Squeeze your biceps briefly at the top and hold this position for a moment.
  5. 5
Exhale as you slowly lower the bar back to the starting position.
  6. 6
Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Benefits

  • Improves biceps strength and definition.
  • Provides constant tension on the muscles, which can lead to greater muscle growth.
  • The EZ-bar helps reduce stress on the wrists and forearms.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Using too much weight, causing you to swing your body to lift the weight. Focus on a weight you can handle with good form.
  • ! Moving your elbows forward or backward during the exercise. Keep your elbows in place to maintain maximum tension on the biceps.

Key Muscles

The primary focus is on the biceps brachii, with secondary involvement of the brachialis and brachioradialis muscles in the forearm.

Possible Alternatives

  • Standing biceps curl with dumbbells for a more stable execution.
  • Hammer curls with cables or dumbbells to also engage the brachialis and brachioradialis more.
  • Preacher curl with the EZ-bar or dumbbells for a stricter movement with less chance of using momentum.
