Dips Machine
Introduction: Machine dips are a fantastic exercise for strengthening your upper body. This exercise primarily targets your triceps, but your chest and shoulders are also trained. Using a machine provides extra stability and allows you to adjust the resistance to your level.
Execution: 1. Sit on the machine with your back against the backrest. 2. Grip the handles. Your hands should be directly beneath your shoulders. 3. Push yourself up by extending your arms, taking care not to fully lock your elbows. 4. Slowly and under control, lower yourself again until your elbows form an angle of approximately 90 degrees. 5. Repeat this movement for the desired number of repetitions.
Primary Muscles: The primary focus is on the triceps. Secondarily, the chest muscles (pectoralis major) and front shoulder muscles (anterior deltoids) are trained.
Benefits: - Improves triceps strength and size. - Helps build a stronger and more defined chest. - Provides stability for the shoulders, contributing to better performance in other exercises.
Common Mistakes: - Lowering or coming up too quickly: use a controlled movement to achieve maximum muscle activation. - Lowering too deeply: this can place unnecessary stress on the shoulders. - Not fully extending the arms: this means you do not get the most out of the exercise.
Possible Alternatives: - Change the grip width to emphasize different parts of the triceps and chest. - Add weight for more resistance or reduce the weight to perform more repetitions. - Try bench dips or ring dips for a challenging variation that requires more stability.
