Benefits

  • Improves muscle balance between the left and right sides of your body.
  • Increases the stability of the shoulder joints.
  • Stimulates coordination and focus through the alternating movement.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Performing too quickly: Performing the movement too quickly can lead to less muscle activation and an increased risk of injury. Focus on a slow, controlled movement.
  • ! Using weights that are too heavy: Using weights that are too heavy can affect your form and lead to injuries. Start with a lighter weight and increase gradually.
  • ! Incorrect posture: Poor posture can reduce the effectiveness of the exercise and increase the risk of injury. Make sure your back is straight and your core is engaged.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the deltoids (shoulder muscles), while the triceps and upper chest muscles are also engaged.

Possible Alternatives

  • Standing Alternating Dumbbell Press: For an extra challenge and to engage the core, perform the exercise while standing.
  • Arnold Press: For a more advanced variation, start with the dumbbells in front of your chest and rotate your palms toward you as you press.
  • Dumbbell Push Press: Add a small squat at the beginning of the movement for more explosiveness and to train the lower-body muscles.
