Benefits

This exercise offers numerous benefits. It not only improves mobility and flexibility in the shoulders and upper back, but also strengthens the muscles needed for good posture. In addition, it helps prevent shoulder injuries by strengthening the muscles around the shoulder joint.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Not activating the abdominal muscles, which causes an excessive arch in the lower back.
  • ! Lifting the head too high, which causes neck tension.
  • ! Moving too quickly, resulting in loss of control over the movement.

Primary Muscles

Prone Swimming targets several muscle groups, including the upper-back muscles, shoulders, triceps, lower back, and the muscles around your shoulder blades. It is a full upper-body workout that also improves core stability.

Possible Alternatives

If you want to adjust the intensity of the exercise, you can add variations such as:

  • Wearing ankle weights to increase resistance.
  • Performing the exercise in a pool for additional resistance from the water.
  • Using resistance bands around your wrists for an extra challenge.

These variations can help make the exercise more challenging as you become stronger.
