Front Raises
If you're looking for an effective way to strengthen your shoulders, Front Raises are an excellent choice. This exercise is not only great for building muscle mass, but also helps improve shoulder stability and mobility.
Execution
-
1
Begin by standing with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand with your palms facing you.
-
2
Keep your back straight and your abdominal muscles engaged.
-
3
Inhale and slowly and controlledly lift the dumbbells in front of you to shoulder height. Keep your elbows slightly bent.
-
4
Exhale as you slowly lower the weights back to the starting position.
Benefits
- Strengthening of the shoulder girdle, which contributes to better posture.
- Improved muscle definition and mass in the front of the shoulders.
- Increased shoulder stability and mobility, which may help prevent injuries.
Common Mistakes
- ! Performing the movement too quickly, which can lead to reduced effectiveness and an increased risk of injury.
- ! Using too much weight, causing technique to deteriorate and the wrong muscles to be engaged.
- ! Lifting the dumbbells too high, which can place unnecessary strain on the neck and shoulders.
Key Muscles
Front Raises primarily target the anterior deltoids (the front of your shoulders). The upper chest muscles and trapezius muscles are also lightly engaged during the exercise.
Possible Alternatives
- For a lighter variation, perform the exercise with resistance bands instead of dumbbells.
- To increase the intensity, try performing the exercise with a pause at the top of the movement.
- For variety, try Side Raises to also train the sides of your shoulders.
