Benefits

  • Improves shoulder stability and strength.
  • Helps create a balanced and aesthetically pleasing shoulder line.
  • Increases functional strength that is useful for daily activities and other sports.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Lifting and lowering the weights too quickly: Use a controlled movement to achieve maximum muscle activation.
  • ! Using weights that are too heavy: This can lead to poor form and possible injuries. Start light and increase gradually.
  • ! Bending the elbows during the exercise: Try to keep your arms as straight as possible.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the anterior and lateral heads of the deltoids. The trapezius and serratus anterior muscles are also engaged lightly.

Possible Alternatives

  • To increase the intensity, you can perform the exercise while standing on one leg. This adds a balance element that activates your core more.
  • If you do not have dumbbells, you can perform similar movements with resistance bands.
  • For beginners, performing the exercise seated on a bench can help maintain proper form and keep the focus on the shoulders.
