The Landmine Squat is a dynamic strength exercise that targets strengthening your lower body using a landmine setup. This exercise provides a unique load on your muscles due to the angle of the bar, creating a different stimulus than traditional squats.

Execution

  1. 1
Place one end of a barbell in a landmine or secure corner.
  2. 2
Load the other end of the bar with the desired weight.
  3. 3
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and grasp the end of the bar with both hands at chest height.
  4. 4
Keep your back straight and chest up, and slowly bend your knees as if sitting down.
  5. 5
Lower yourself until your thighs are parallel to the floor while keeping the bar at chest height.
  6. 6
Drive yourself powerfully back up to the starting position.

Benefits

  • Improves overall lower-body strength and stability.
  • The angle of the bar helps reduce stress on the lower back.
  • Suitable for people with limitations who find traditional squats difficult.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Rounded back: Make sure your back stays straight throughout the movement to prevent injuries.
  • ! Squatting too deep: Do not squat deeper than parallel to avoid overloading the knees.
  • ! Bar too far forward: Keep the bar close to your chest to maintain proper balance and form.

Key Muscles

The primary muscle groups trained with the Landmine Squat are the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, and core.

Possible Alternatives

  • Add a twist at the top of each squat to engage the obliques more.
  • Use one arm to hold the bar for an asymmetrical challenge.
  • Increase the weight or add more repetitions to increase the intensity.
