Benefits

In addition to strengthening your legs and glutes, reverse lunges also help improve your balance and flexibility. Adding dumbbells increases the intensity and results in greater muscle activation.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Leaning your upper body too far forward, which can put pressure on your back.
  • ! Pushing your knees too far forward, which can lead to injuries.
  • ! Not lowering yourself far enough, which reduces the effectiveness of the exercise.

Primary Muscles

The primary muscles trained with dumbbell reverse lunges are the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, and calves. Your core is also engaged to provide stability during the exercise.

Possible Alternatives

If you want to adjust the intensity of the exercise, you can consider replacing the dumbbells with a barbell or adding extra weight. For beginners, performing the exercise without weights may be sufficient for working on technique.
