  3. 3
Inhale and slowly bend your knees while pushing your hips back as if you are going to sit on a chair.
  4. 4
Lower yourself until your thighs are parallel to the floor, keeping your back straight and your chest up.
  5. 5
Exhale and push yourself back up to the starting position by pressing your heels into the floor.

Benefits:

  • Improves the strength and tone of your legs and glutes.
  • Increases core stability.
  • Improves hip and ankle mobility.
  • Can be performed anywhere and anytime without equipment.

Common Mistakes:

  • ! Leaning your upper body too far forward; keep your chest up.
  • ! Allowing your knees to collapse too far inward or outward; keep them aligned with your feet.
  • ! Not lowering yourself far enough; try to bring your thighs parallel to the floor.
  • ! Lifting your heels off the floor; keep your entire foot on the ground.

Important Muscles:

  • Quadriceps (front of the thighs)
  • Hamstrings (back of the thighs)
  • Gluteus maximus (gluteal muscles)
  • Core (abdominal and back muscles for stability)

Possible Alternatives:

  • Add a jump at the end of the squat for a plyometric variation.
  • Use a resistance band around your thighs to increase the difficulty.
  • Perform the squat on one leg for an advanced variation.
