Execution

  1. 1
Find a sturdy anchor point at a low height to attach the resistance band to. Make sure the point is sturdy enough to withstand the tension of the band.
  2. 2
Stand with your back to the anchor point and grasp the ends of the band with both hands. Step forward until you feel tension in the band.
  3. 3
Position your feet shoulder-width apart and keep your knees slightly bent for stability.
  4. 4
Keep your elbows slightly bent and push your hands diagonally upward from the low position until they are at shoulder height. Your hands should almost touch above your head.
  5. 5
Slowly and controllably return your hands to the starting position.
  6. 6
Repeat the movement for the desired number of repetitions.

Benefits

  • Improves chest muscle definition.
  • Increases upper-body strength.
  • Provides variable resistance, resulting in effective muscle stimulation.
  • May help improve posture by strengthening the chest muscles.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Performing the movement too quickly: Use a controlled movement to achieve maximum muscle activation.
  • ! Using too much band tension: Start with lighter resistance to ensure proper technique.
  • ! Not keeping your back straight: Keep your back straight to prevent injuries.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the upper and middle portions of the chest muscles (pectoralis major). The shoulders (deltoids) and triceps are also trained lightly.

Possible Alternatives

  • To increase the intensity, you can use a heavier resistance band or stand one step farther from the anchor point.
  • For a lighter variation, stand closer to the anchor point or use a lighter band.
  • Alternatively, you can also use dumbbell flyes or a chest press machine to train similar muscle groups.
