Diamond Push-Ups
Introduction: Diamond push-ups are a variation of the classic push-up that targets the triceps and the inner chest. By placing your hands close together in a diamond shape, you increase the intensity of the exercise.
Execution: Begin in a plank position with your hands under your chest, fingers pointing toward each other so they form a diamond shape. Keep your body in a straight line from your head to your heels. Bend your elbows to lower yourself until your chest almost touches the floor. Then push yourself back up to the starting position. Keep your back straight and do not let your hips sag.
Main Muscles: The primary muscles trained with diamond push-ups are the triceps, the chest muscles, especially the inner chest, and the deltoids.
Benefits: This exercise helps build upper-body strength and can contribute to better muscle definition. It is also a good exercise for improving overall stability and core strength.
Common Mistakes: A common mistake is not fully extending the arms at the top of the movement. Make sure you complete every repetition fully for maximum effectiveness. It is also important not to let your hips sag or arch your back.
Possible Alternatives: If the diamond push-up is too challenging, you can start with your knees on the floor to reduce the intensity. For an extra challenge, you can wear a weighted vest or place your feet on an elevated surface.
