Repeat this movement for the desired number of repetitions.

Benefits

  • Strengthens and defines the lower chest muscles.
  • Improves overall chest shape and symmetry.
  • Safer for the shoulders than some free-weight exercises.
  • Ideal for beginners and people recovering from injuries.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Lowering or pushing the weights too quickly, which can lead to injuries.
  • ! Not keeping your back against the backrest, which reduces the effectiveness of the exercise.
  • ! Locking out your elbows too much when pushing, which places unnecessary stress on the joints.

Primary Muscles

The Decline Machine Chest Press primarily targets the lower chest muscles (pectoralis major), but also trains the triceps and anterior shoulder muscles (anterior deltoids).

Possible Alternatives

  • To increase the intensity, you can increase the resistance or perform more repetitions.
  • For variation, you can also try the incline chest press machine, which focuses more on the upper chest muscles.
  • Dumbbell flyes on a decline bench are a good alternative for involving more stabilizing muscles.
