Execution

  1. 1
Begin by setting the cable machine to the lowest position and attaching a handle to each cable.
  2. 2
Stand facing the machine, grasp each handle with a neutral grip, and take a step back so that the weights are lifted slightly from the stack.
  3. 3
Lean slightly forward from your hips and bend your knees slightly. Keep your back straight and your core engaged.
  4. 4
Pull the handles from low to high and diagonally across your body, as if forming an X, while keeping your arms almost fully extended.
  5. 5
Slowly and with control, return the handles to the starting position.
  6. 6
Repeat the movement for the desired number of repetitions.

Benefits

  • Improves muscle definition by training the muscles from different angles.
  • Increases shoulder stability and strength, contributing to better performance in other exercises and daily activities.
  • Helps correct muscle imbalances between the left and right sides of the body.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Performing the movement too quickly: Make sure to perform the movement slowly and with control to achieve maximum muscle activation.
  • ! Using too much weight: This can lead to improper form and possible injuries. Start light and increase the weight gradually.
  • ! Not fully extending the arms: Make sure to extend your arms almost fully to achieve a full range of motion.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the deltoids (shoulders), with secondary involvement of the upper chest muscles (pectoralis major), triceps, and the muscles in your core for stability.

Possible Alternatives

  • To increase the intensity, try performing the exercise in a split stance or add torso rotation to the movement.
  • For a lighter variation, you can train one arm at a time, which also helps focus on muscle imbalances.
