EZ-Barbell Curl

The EZ-Barbell Curl is a popular exercise for strengthening and building the biceps. Thanks to the shape of the EZ bar, your wrists are less stressed than with a standard straight barbell, providing a more comfortable grip and more effective training of the upper arms.

Execution

  1. 1
Stand upright with your feet shoulder-width apart and hold the EZ bar with an underhand grip (palms facing upward).
  2. 2
Let the bar rest on your thighs and keep your elbows close to your body.
  3. 3
Inhale and curl the bar upward toward your chest while keeping your upper arms still.
  4. 4
Squeeze your biceps at the top of the movement.
  5. 5
Exhale and slowly and controllably lower the bar back to the starting position.

Benefits

  • Improves the strength and size of the biceps.
  • The shape of the EZ bar reduces stress on the wrists and forearms.
  • Helps improve grip strength.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Using too much weight, causing your technique to deteriorate.
  • ! Moving your elbows during the exercise, which reduces its effectiveness.
  • ! Lowering the weights too quickly, causing the muscles to be trained less effectively.

Primary Muscles

The primary focus of the EZ-Barbell Curl is the biceps brachii. The brachialis and brachioradialis are also trained to a lesser extent, contributing to the overall development of the upper arm.

Possible Alternatives

  • Standard Barbell Curl: For when you do not have an EZ bar available.
  • Hammer Curls: Focuses more on the brachialis and brachioradialis.
  • Concentration Curls: For a more isolated biceps workout.
