EZ Bar Preacher Curl

  • EZ Bar Preacher Curl
  • EZ Bar Preacher Curl

Introduction: The EZ Bar Preacher Curl is a popular exercise for strengthening your biceps. The support of the preacher bench isolates your arm, providing a more intense biceps workout.

Execution:

  1. Set up the preacher bench and adjust it so that you are seated comfortably with your arms resting on the support.
  2. Grip the EZ bar with both hands using an underhand grip (palms facing upward) at shoulder width.
  3. Inhale and slowly lower the bar until your arms are almost fully extended.
  4. Exhale as you lift the bar back to the starting position.
  5. Keep your elbows on the support throughout the exercise and move only your forearms.

Primary Muscles: The primary focus is on the biceps brachii. Secondary muscle groups involved are the brachialis and brachioradialis.

Benefits: This exercise helps build the peak of the biceps and improves overall arm strength. The isolation makes it easier to focus on the biceps without engaging other muscles.

Common Mistakes:

  • Performing the movement too quickly, which can lead to less effective muscle activation and an increased risk of injury.
  • Not fully extending or bending the arms during the exercise.
  • Using too much weight, causing muscles other than the biceps to compensate.

Possible Alternatives: If you want to adjust the intensity, you can vary the grip width on the EZ bar or use dumbbells for a similar exercise. Another variation is performing the exercise standing, without the preacher bench, to engage more stabilizing muscles.
