Execution

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart on the middle of the band.
  2. 2
Hold one end of the band in each hand. Make sure your palms face forward.
  3. 3
Keep your elbows close to your body and your back straight.
  4. 4
Exhale and pull the band upward toward your shoulders by bending your elbows.
  5. 5
Pause briefly at the top, then slowly and in a controlled manner lower the band back to the starting position.

Benefits

  • Improves biceps strength and definition.
  • The band’s constant tension challenges your muscles throughout the entire movement.
  • May help improve grip strength.
  • Joint-friendly due to the lower impact compared with traditional weights.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Performing the movement too quickly: Focus on a slow, controlled movement.
  • ! Moving the elbows: Keep your elbows in place to maintain the focus on the biceps.
  • ! Using a resistance band that is too light: Choose a band with enough resistance to challenge your muscles.

Main Muscles

The primary muscle group trained with this exercise is the biceps brachii. The brachialis and brachioradialis are also trained to a lesser extent.

Possible Alternatives

  • Stand wider or narrower on the band for more or less resistance, respectively.
  • Perform the exercise while seated for a more stable position.
  • Use a heavier band or combine multiple bands for additional resistance.
