Execution

  2. 2

  3. 3
Make sure that only your forearms move and your upper arms remain still.
  4. 4
Inhale and slowly and controllably lower the barbell back to the starting position.

Benefits

  • Strengthens the biceps and forearms.
  • Improves grip strength and arm stability.
  • May help improve performance in other exercises and daily activities.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Using too much weight, which can lead to poor form and potential injuries.
  • ! Moving the elbows during the exercise, which reduces its effectiveness.
  • ! Lowering the weights too quickly, which reduces control and muscle activation.

Primary Muscles

The primary focus is on the biceps brachii. Secondary muscle groups involved are the brachialis and brachioradialis in the forearm.

Possible Alternatives

  • Hammer curls with dumbbells for a variation that places more emphasis on the brachialis and brachioradialis.
  • Concentration curls for a more isolated bicep workout.
  • Barbell curl with a wide grip to place more emphasis on the short head of the biceps.
