  2. 2
Sit on the bench and place your feet firmly on the footrests. Keep your knees slightly bent.

  6. 6
Slowly and under control, allow the handles to return to the starting position.
  7. 7
Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Benefits

  • Improves the strength and size of the back muscles.
  • Helps improve posture by strengthening the muscles around the spine.
  • May contribute to a reduction in back pain through a stronger and more supportive back.
  • Improves grip strength through the involvement of the forearms.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Using too much weight: This can lead to poor form and possible injury. Make sure you choose a weight that allows you to perform the exercise correctly.
  • ! Not keeping your back straight: Bending your back during the exercise can place unnecessary pressure on the spine. Make sure your back remains straight throughout the entire movement.
  • ! Moving your elbows too far away from your body: This reduces the exercise's effectiveness for the back muscles. Keep your elbows close to your body.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the latissimus dorsi, the trapezius (upper back), the rhomboids (between the shoulder blades), and to a lesser extent the biceps and forearms.

Possible Alternatives

  • Dumbbell Rows: An option if you do not have access to a cable machine or prefer free weights.
  • Bodyweight Rows (Australian Pull-Ups): A good option if you are looking for a bodyweight exercise that trains the back muscles.
  • Band Pull-Aparts: An excellent exercise for strengthening the upper back and shoulder blades that you can perform with a resistance band.
