Lying Leg Lift
Do you want a strong core and toned abdominal muscles? Then the Lying Leg Lift is an excellent exercise for you. This exercise is unique because it specifically targets the lower abdominal muscles, an area that is often difficult to train.
Execution
-
1
Lie on your back on a mat, with your hands under your buttocks for support.
-
2
Keep your legs straight and raise them together until they form a 90-degree angle with your torso.
-
3
Lower your legs slowly and under control, without letting them touch the floor.
-
4
Repeat the movement for the desired number of repetitions.
Benefits
- Strengthens the core and improves stability.
- Helps create a toned, flat stomach.
- May help reduce back pain through a stronger core.
Common Mistakes
- ! Lowering the legs too quickly: This reduces the effectiveness of the exercise. Use a controlled movement.
- ! Not keeping the back flat on the floor: This can lead to back pain. Press your lower back firmly against the floor during the exercise.
Primary Muscles
The Lying Leg Lift primarily trains the rectus abdominis (the straight abdominal muscles) and the obliques (the oblique abdominal muscles). The hip flexors are also engaged during this exercise.
Possible Alternatives
- If the standard Lying Leg Lift is too challenging, try lifting one leg at a time.
- For an additional challenge, add ankle weights or hold a medicine ball between your feet.
